Look Like My Mom!
I look like her to the extent that my maternal grandparents say,
it makes them remember their old days.
Her college friends finally visited to meet all of us after 20 years or more. From different different cities some even settled in another country came down here. Isn't that beautiful? Meeting your college friends after almost two decades.
Yes they were not in touch, because there wasn't any social media contact or personal mobile phones back then. Or I should say my mom never used social media. Of Course they didn't inform us before coming. It was more like a surprise.
My father was on a phone call when their car halted in front of our house. He met them last time on their marriage. Dad welcomed them. I was the one to serve them with water.
I Poured the lukewarm water in five glasses and walked through the lobby till the living room. The moment I entered they looked at me with amazement.
It was my first time meeting them.
I stayed there holding the tray tight,
trying to show I was doing alright.
With my eyes admiring the floor. One of her friends couldn't stop herself anymore. She stood up and hugged me tight.
Another said, " do you know whom do you look like?"
I just smiled back and said," of course , this is the best compliment i can get, but I want you to say out loud because this is the only think my ears yearn for."
Their eyes brimmed with tears, with regret and guilt for not meeting her before.
As she doesn't live on this planet anymore.
But they get to see a glimpse of her in me.
At last she will remain to stay young in their memory.
Waah !! Such an amazing expression of your thoughts !! Waah really so good. You really resemble your mother so much.
